APPLICATIONS & DEADLINES

In order to best learn about the people and the programs, we urge those students interested in a pediatric residency to consider planning a visit and spending a rotation at several of the programs that interest them the most. Application to our program is through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service) available through your medical school dean's office. We encourage applicants to submit residency applications early in the ERAS cycle (June, July or August) so that we may begin to assemble our applicant pool. Supporting documents like letters of recommendation can be sent to ERAS at a later date. We will interview all applicants who apply to our program up to our interviewing deadline in the first week of November. Selections for residency positions will take place at the joint service selection board the first week in December. Match results are released to candidates about mid-December.

General Medical Officers and Brigade Surgeons may apply for PL-1 or PL-2 positions by contacting the Program Director.

STUDENT ELECTIVES AND SUB-INTERNSHIPS

USUHS and Health Professions Scholarship Programs (HPSP) students interested in elective rotations in Pediatrics at Walter Reed Army Medical Center or National Naval Medical Center should email coordinator@nccpeds.com to schedule a rotation or a visit.   A variety of elective rotations are available to fourth year medical students all year long. Students interviewing for our program should plan electives in the July-October time block. Regardless of elective site, students will have an opportunity to work and observe our program at both Walter Reed and the National Naval Medical Center. We suggest that you arrange those rotations early because spots for 4th year students are limited.

Click here for the NCC Pediatrics Clerkship Packet which has contact information and military-specific information about rotations in our program.
