Bring your Child to Work Day-Thursday, April 24th

  • The Pediatric Department will be holding a local dept “Bring Your Child to Work Day” on Thursday 24 April

  • Children must be supervised at all time during participation

  • Events will begin at 0800 with a Teddy Bear Clinic with the residency team. Final schedule will be distributed to the department this week.

  • All children in attendance are encouraged to bring their favorite teddy bear/stuffed friend!


NEW 3rd Annual Peds Sweets & Treats - Monday, April 28

  • Please support this event hosted by the resiliency committee by bringing a baked good, a healthy treat, or something sweet to share with everyone. All food items must be individually wrapped

  • Donations will be accepted to raise funds for Pediatric Resiliency initiatives (eg. Gingerbread house contest, resident’s annual luncheon, pet photo contest, pumpkin contest, etc). Cash, Venmo, & CashApp will be accepted for donations.

USU Teaching Opportunities

Longitudinal Clinical Skills for MD/PhD students

  • Volunteers will help lead hour long case-based discussion to a small group of students in USU's combined MD/PhD program. These students have completed their pre-clerkship phase of medical school and are doing research for their PhD before moving on to clerkships. 

  • Upcoming sessions: Lumbar Puncture 5/8/25.  All sessions are from 0900-1000.

ICR Module Small Group Teaching Opportunities at USU


POET Round Robin Teaching at USU (Next Session 30APR)

  • POET week Pediatrics half day is a round robin format to orient USU medical students just prior to their pediatric clerkship rotation.

  • Upcoming sessions: 30APR2025, and 27AUG2025 (1300-1700 at USU)

    • Sessions run from 1300-1700 (report NLT 1245)

  • Current leave process

    • Please send email to Emily and Military Advisor notifying of specific leave requests

    • Please use IPPS-A for all leave/absence requests; go to https://myaccess.dmdc.osd.mil/identitymanagement/app/login and login with your CAC

    • Make sure you change your email in order to receive email notifications -> My Profile -> My Current Profile -> down arrow next to name -> Personal Details -> Contact Details

    • Submit leave

      • Submit Leave to your specific Military Advisor

      • Click My Absences in the home page

      • Complete the appropriate information, an example of chargeable leave is below:

      • Absence Type: 1-Chargeable Absence

      • Absence Name: Absence

      • Absence Reason: 01- Annual (Ordinary) Absence and complete the remainder of the page

      • Enter Start and End Dates

      • For supervisor ID: direct it to your ARMY ADVISOR

      • Complete address information with the location of where you are going

      • Click submit

Leave:

  • Please complete and sign the attached checklist when submitting leave.

  • Put Dr. Zanetti as 1st Approver, and email checklist to both.

  • For the checklist - When out of training these are items that will result in leave not being approved. I will NOT be rejecting leave, but if there are things overdue we need a plan to get updated. If you have a lot of overdue items and you are doing OCONUS or leave requiring commanders signature this could cause issues, but we’ll address that if it comes up.

  • Here’s how you should answer Checklist:

1 – in JKO ensure that your annual cyberawareness, Hippa, level 1 antiterrorism training are done

2- Check your IMR and ensure all green https://asimsimr.health.mil/imr/myIMR.aspx  if not use comment box to write what is not up to date and plan

3 – TR closeouts are end of the academic year 30June

4 – N/A

5 – check myfss for next PT Test date https://myfss.us.af.mil/USAFCommunity/s/usaf-fitness-management

6 – this is your birth month

NAVY-FITREP Reminders

  • All O3s and O4s should check their OMPF and if their Fitrep is not there, send a letter to the board with a copy of the Fitrep

  • Please reference email sent to all Navy trainees from Dr. Hepps with specific instructions and reach out to Navy advisors (Drs. Madison and Wido) for additional assistance


Leave:

  • LCDR Sierra Howell is the new Navy leave approver

  • When submitting leave, please email LCDR Howell and cc the chief resident

  • Chief Resident will send email confirming that dates have been approved
