Plays of the Week:
Play of the week goes to Dr. Andrew Warren and Dr. Briggs Smith for their swift, life-saving actions this week when a patient went into anaphylaxis on the ward. Within moments had given the patient the epipen and proceeded down the pathway of management. The patient was able to be stabilized and quickly because of their fast and comprehensive interventions.
Play of the week to our entire NICU staff, nurses, RTs, fellows and residents! The NICU has been very busy this week with 4 high acuity admissions. A special shoutout to Dr. Anna Casey and Dr. Nicole Martin. Anna placed umbilical lines in a 450 gram neonate without difficulty, and Nicole placed two UVCs in a pair of twins. Both showed great poise during times of controlled chaos. Everyone keep up the great work!
Additional play of the week to Dr. Rebecca Morgis, who provided exceptional care to a patient and his family in the Adolescent Clinic. The patient presented with acute pain after use of substances. She was able to obtain a comprehensive, yet focused history, as well as do a thorough examination, that helped us to diagnose the cause of the patient's pain. She was efficient, while also going the extra mile to ensure the patient and his family were comfortable with the plan, and understood the course of action/treatment. Very impressed and grateful to her!
Play of the week to the Corpsmen and Residents on the excellent work they did on the Pumpkin Decorating contest. The resident Blue Team won for the first time!
Play of the decade to Ms. Theresa Kiefer, who is leaving Walter Reed after over 10 years of service to the Pediatric Residency Program and other GME programs. She has been an amazing member of our team, and will be dearly missed!
