Plan of the Week: Sep 11 - Sep 17

Plays of the Week:

Play of the week goes to the Rees family who welcomed Baby Bhumik this past Monday!

Play of the week goes to MSIV Allison Denny, and Drs. Rob Crutcher and Amy Davis, for their assistance in the delivery of an extremely premature infant in the NICU earlier last week. Their additional help made everything go seamlessly.

Play of the week also goes to Drs. Brian Graziose and Sidney Zven, as well as their mentor, Dr. Lopreiato, on their abstract acceptance, "Use of an Infant Hip Model to Assess Skills and Recognition of Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip" to the International Meeting for Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH).

Play of the week also goes to Dr. Elise Reddington for getting a champagne tap 🍾 during her IFH ED rotation!

Last but not least, play of the week goes to Dr. Allison Helfrich who went above and beyond during her attending week on the ward as an educator and mentor for the team.

Simulation Center Volunteer

  • The Simulation Center is up for re-accreditation from the American College of Surgeons (ACS). We are having a virtual site visit 28Sep. ACS is asking for a resident representative who is familiar with the services offered by the Sim Center to have a "virtual lunch" to talk about the learning opportunities and their personal experiences. I would need one resident and another backup, both available by zoom at /around 11:45 on 28 Sept. Please email Britt Bumgardner if you are interested by Sep 15th.

Help Improve the Peds Endo Curriculum at WRNMMC and throughout the DoD

  • Do you know what U.S. President had a pheochromocytoma? Do you know the highest recorded blood glucose value? I know your time is valuable, but if you can spare 10-15 minutes of your time to complete this survey, the answers to these trivia questions will be revealed!

  • This anonymous survey is an important part of my Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship scholarly project and is meant to gather information regarding the curricula used during Pediatric Endocrinology rotations. The survey does not ask for identifiers and participation is completely voluntary.

PSU After-Hours

  • Residents -- please be aware that parents may call regarding PSU patients (sedated earlier in the particular day). If this occurs, please look up their sedation notes from that day to assist in any questions the family may have. If their concerns require redirection to the ED, please notify the family as well. Follow up any PSU-related questions with NP Susan Kline (susan.l.kline.civ@mail.mil) with a quick email after the conversation, so she can follow up the next business day. Please view the standard PSU discharge instructions below.
