Play of the week goes to Dr. Andrew Warren for helping to implement and pilot a new night huddle between the charge nurse and senior resident. Nursing commented that Andrew did a great job of improving communication and increasing a sense of patient safety. Great work!

Dr. Barry Solomon - Academic Pediatric Association Board Member

  • Dr. Solomon will be at Morning Report on Tuesday, July 18th! Following the case, he will be giving a lecture on the APA. He will then stay for a 30 minute Question and Answer Session.

  • All are strongly encouraged to attend! This is a great opportunity to learn more about the APA and how one can advance their career in academic pediatrics.


Pediatric Obesity Curriculum

  • Healthy Habits Pediatric Obesity Curriculum and Toolkit - New Educational Curriculum to Improve Provider's Confidence and Knowledge in the Care of Childhood Obesity. This is a great resource that is being rolled out, and will be a longitudinal study throughout this academic year.

  • Pre-Survey: Please complete this 20-30 minute survey in anticipation of self-directed learning curriculum to be released on July 15th.

GME Applications: MODS is now open!

Application Timeline:

  • 1JUL - MODS Opens

  • 15OCT - Application Finalized with all supporting documentation. Last day for training location preference change

  • Designed to mimic a clinic half day, each faculty member will be in an MDL room with your particular case. The students have 30 minutes with you to go through the case/skills. The students will move. You stay put and will deliver the same content 5 times to groups of 9-10 students.

Call for Abstracts! Fellows, Residents, Medical Students and staff are encouraged to apply. All research and Quality Improvement projects will be considered for presentation. Deadline for submission of abstracts is Friday, August 18th. Applicants will be notified of selection for attendance by September 1st.

Child Health Advocacy in Action: A Pediatrician Rally with Policymakers

Date: Tuesday, October 24, 2023

Location: U.S. Capitol Grounds, final location pending permit approval

  • The AAP is organizing a rally for pediatricians with policymakers on the final day of the AAP Conference in DC. Participants will gather with pediatrician advocates from around the U.S., hear from federal policymakers and pediatrician leaders about an array of child health policy issues, and collectively demonstrate pediatricians’ passion for policies that put children first

  • Annual AAP Meeting of Pediatricians from local area. In addition, will host a 2-hr Nexplanon training session. Please let us know if interested in Nexplanon Training. It is $25 for AAP Members.
